Have you run out of ways to keep you middle school students engaged when reviewing content for a test?
In my science class, we LOVE to switch things up from the daily lectures with fun review games before a test! Keeping learning fun and interesting is the BEST way to get those hard-to-please middle schoolers engaged with the content! My students had so much fun completing this review game before our final, I don’t even know if they remembered they were really ‘studying.’
This was my first time ever using an online escape room review! After spending a few hours watching youtube videos and then creating the room myself, I was so excited to give my kids the opportunity to complete the escape room and they loved it! Many had mentioned it was their favorite review we had done this far!
I used Google forms to create this escape room, which follows the storyline of taking an end of year field trip to a science museum and accidentally getting left behind! Students have to work through the different areas of the museum using information they have learned throughout the year in science to help them escape and catch the bus before it is too late!
One of my favorite aspects of this escape room is that students are able to have some autonomy (middle schoolers LOVE autonomy!) in the order they chose to go throughout the museum! This kept the students from cheating off of one another and kept everyone working hard! I enforced a bonus point system as they escaped to have a since of competition and urgency in the air!
This escape room took my partnered 8th graders an average of 35 minutes (with the use of their study guide and unlimited teacher hints). You can add harder questions or only allow a certain amount of hints to make it more difficult!

Here is a copy of the Biblical Worldview Life Science Online Escape Room my class used to study for their finals! My students loved it and it kept them entertained (which is a middle school teacher WIN!)
